Un pequeño robot que es capaz de saltar como una pulga, cubrir grandes distancias y detectar contaminación fue presentado hoy en el Simposio de insectos voladores y robots que se realiza en Suiza.
El insecto mecánico fue desarrollado para detectar mercurio dañino en la tierra y salta de un lugar a otro.
Mide 10 centímetros de largo y pesa 80 gramos y cabe perfectamente en la palma de la mano.
“En el desarrollo del robot nos enfocamos en la forma en que saltan las pulgas y las ranas. Máquinas como éstas son más eficientes que las de mayor tamaño para cubrir grandes áreas en corto tiempo”, explicó Umberto Scarfogliero de la Universidad de Lucca.
