Una simple terapia y nuestra mente olvidarÃa los recuerdos más desagradables. Todo gracias a una investigación de Elizabeth Phelps y Joseph LeDoux publicada en la revista Nature y que se llama Preventing the return of fear in humans using reconsolidation update mechanisms.
Daniela Schiller, autora del estudio: "Nuestra investigación sugiere que durante la lÃnea del tiempo de nuestra memoria hay ventanas que permiten cambiar permanentemente determinados momentos."
"Hay que entender que en los dinamismos de la memoria podrÃamos abrir nuevos caminos para tratar los trastornos que implican los malos recuerdos."
Hasta este momento las terapias tradicionales asumÃan que la memoria es permanente. Sin embargo, los cientÃficos afirman que la memoria se puede reescribir y con ello eliminar los problemas psicológicos.
El procedimiento consiste en invocar deliberadamente los miedos para borrarlos antes de que el cerebro los vuelva a almacenar. La ventana de la memoria que permite hacer esto permanece abierta durante una hora. Gracias a este proceso los miedos se eliminan de forma permanente.
